Title: Spooky but Sweet
Universe: Granada, 90s AU
Rating: G
Characters/Pairings: Holmes/Watson
Word Count: 214
Summary: Sherlock prepares a sweet treat for John.
John loved October. He loved the change in the weather, and seeing the leaves turn golden before falling. I loved sharing this with him, because it meant more cuddling under blankets with hot drinks and kisses that tasted of hot chocolate.
He loved Halloween too. Seeing all the costumes and the sweets appear in the shops always made him smile. As the day approached, we would tell each other spooky stories, always hoping to raise a laugh.
One afternoon in mid-October, I was making us hot chocolate. I wanted to give John a special treat, so I set about decorating the marshmallows while the milk heated up. When I was done, I took the mugs through on a tray.
“Thank you, love,” he said as I handed his mug to him.
I snuggled up to him under our blanket and we wrapped our arms around each other. Something was on the tv, but neither of us was paying much attention. I rested my head against his good shoulder and he pressed a kiss to the top of my head. As he was about to take a sip of his drink, he chuckled.
“Did you turn the marshmallows into ghosts?”
I laughed. “Yes. Do you like them?”
“They’re very nice. Sweet and spooky. Thank you.”
